DATA DISASTER RECOVERY PLAN – UNION WELL INC.
Created: 1/5/2011
Updated: 2/7/2013

Responsible Party: ISO/Jeff Williams, IRT/Various, Union WELL Inc./IT/Andrew Singletary

Purpose:
To provide Information Technology services for all aspects of Union WELL Inc. including both the University Union and The WELL facilities. Additionally comply with corporate, IRT, University, and Chancellor Office mandates and audit requirements.

Objective:
To restore crucial business related Information Technology services to Union WELL Inc. in a timely manner in the event of a disaster. The restoration process will include and comply with corporate, IRT, University, and Chancellor Office procedures, policies, and mandates specific to the disaster event.

Risk Areas:
Physical Servers
If a disaster or failure occurs with a physical server(s) then services that don't require physical servers would be placed into a virtual server environment if available from IRT. Current physical server hardware is being phased out as hardware reaches 5 year limits and expired warranties. Services that require physical server hardware equipment will be replaced such as NVR (Network Video Recorder) servers.

Virtual Servers
If a disaster or failure occurs with a virtual server or the IRT virtual server environment then the virtual server will be restored/re-created from CommVault Backup. If a virtual server environment is not available from IRT then off-campus hosting will be temporarily procured or Union WELL Inc. will comply with the IRT Disaster Recovery Plan.

Campus Sacfiles Storage
If a disaster or failure occurs with the Campus Sacfiles Storage currently maintained by IRT then we would comply with the IRT Disaster Recovery Plan and restoration options involving CommVault.

EMS Enterprise
EMS Enterprise is the event scheduling system that is utilized by the University Union Event Services and The WELL Facilities and Information Recreation division. This software schedules room reservations for both facilities and all student organization/groups.
If a disaster or failure occurs to the EMS Enterprise database we would restore to the latest working copy of the database. Databases are backed up nightly to local disk at 6pm PT (retained locally for 7 days) and are also backed up nightly to the CommVault backup system. An active support agreement with the software vendor is required and to assure support will be available if required during this event.

CSI, Software. Inc. – Spectrum NG
Spectrum NG by CSI, Software, Inc. is the information system that controls membership management, point-of-sale, equipment checkout, fitness trainer scheduling, and other modules to The WELL.
If a disaster or failure occurs to the CSI, Software, Inc. Spectrum NG database, we would restore to the latest working copy of the database. Databases are backed up nightly to local disk at 6pm PT (retained locally for 7 days) and are also backed up nightly to the CommVault backup system. An active support agreement with the software vendor is required and to assure support will be available if required during this event.

CommVault Backup System
All Servers documented in IT Request 2 are connected and actively backup to the University CommVault backup system that is managed through IRT. Email reports are reviewed daily by the Information Technology Manager and other IRT Staff to check for errors or problems.
